Technique is just a series of tools to seduce and amaze - once skills are honed the mosaic artist hones their cutting edge with imagination, flair and the desire to break away from the chains of tradition, with respect. When an artist finds their niche they must not rest but continue to explore for their personal mosaic mojo and find a balance with their clients.
To be swallowed up in the mosaic crowd is not an option for me. I choose to share my discoveries as this causes others to join me in my journey - a learning chain reaction. The mosaic zone is where I want to be.
"Euphoric" describes Sandy's passion for mosaics. Mosaic addicts experience "Euphoria Zone 4" - a state of perfect artistic pleasure!
Sandy's secret mosaic ingredients - dash of humour & dollop of vegemite! I am passionate about pushing the limits of mosaic adhesives, tesserae, tools and techniques, constantly experimenting and thinking outside the mosaic square.
3-D whimsical and fantasy mosaic describes my personal mosaic passion, often described as dramatically "over the top". I try to inject personality and excitement into my mosaic creations. I easily slip into more conventional mosaic mode when the need arises to work harmoniously with clients and students to achieve their mosaic dreams.
I helped to introduce the Art from the Heart Program through MAANZ and continually encourage other artists and friends to join me in giving back to the community and involving children and the elderly in mosaic programs.
As a professional mosaic therapist, mosaic addiction is encouraged. Students enter Zone 4, a euphoric state; mentoring is often needed on the Diva Couch to coax them back to reality.
As a professional tile breaker and Leponnit lover, I happily share my innovative mosaic tips and tricks with mosaic addicts, sharing the secret that while I share I grow. Housework is a dirty word and I am a chocoholic - it seems to go with the territory!
Many a night is spent on the tiles! I can't get accused of lying down on the job even though this photo in the Brisbane Courier Mail tells a different story!
I don't limit myself to a particular tool or tesserae! I mix it all up - using glass, smalti, tile, ceramic, mirror, china, wood and found object to create mosaic artworks.
