For seven years Sandy and her mosaicking Mum have diligently scoured trash and treasure  markets, car boot sales, school fetes, garage sales, rubbish bins, lots of bin diving, ratted through rubbish, tips, begged for broken items from stores, tiles shops and sometimes shamefully dropped plates on purpose!   Thrift Shops to Antique Shops and all over the countryside. 

Nothing is safe from this dynamic duo and others have joined in the lust for all that is tesserae!   Friends who are grey nomads caravanning around Oz bring back little treasures...rocks and shells, old bones and china....little things that mean so much to Sandy.

Often we walk out the studio gate and fall over a box of goodies some good mosaic samaritan has left at the studio door!   Christmas all year round!

Sandy has locked up her trash and treasure behind a steel vault (taken from on old Queensland bank during demolition) and only a few few get into this room.

Polly was once trusted with the KEY but took Millie in there and Millie started to cry with excitement and had to be restrained in the Diva Towers pink padded cell...she couldn't handle the row upon row of china plates, just piled for the taking!

Polly does know the way to Sandy's 'art and she knows where the map is that highlights the best areas in Oz for scavenging!  She would rather cut out her tongue than tell (wouldn't you Polly?)....

Polly and Popette also are sharers of The Secret - the secret tunnel to the op shops.

Anyway, when Sandy can't handle the pressure of 24-7 she slips into the Stash Room with Polly and knocks off a bottle of Diva Pink - their favourite champagne!  Of course the bottles are tossed into the Drop-Off dept.   It is a strange sound hearing champagne bottle corks hitting the stash of gold rimmed wine glasses.
