Calling all true blue mosaic addicts!
Can you handle a 5 day workshop at OzMosaics!
The Mosaic Marathon Challenge!
How many Iced Vovos can you eat?
How much chocolate or champagne is possible?
Visit this link for information on a
5 day mosaic marathon
workshop to be held at OzMosaics Studio in Brisbane, Queensland Australia in September 2008!
Sandy Robertson will be your mosaic tutor
and instigator of much mosaic mayhem
- and will inspire you to new mosaic making heights!
Shove those shards? How high can you go?
Unless you do this workshop, you may never know!
Similar to an ArtsFest,(Sandy was a tutor at Grafton Artsfest for two years running) the benefit of this week-long workshop is that it's at Sandy's own mosaic art studio - you can arrive and start working! So this is Sandy's Mosaic Marathon Brisbane ArtsFest - but it's for the truly addicted!
No need to lug everything with you - Sandy has so much on hand to share with you from slide shows , videos to movies whilst we work! We can organise to ship your mosaic home, so even if it's till curing you don't have to worry at all! This can be discussed when you book in. Dave will cater with some surprise sausage sizzles and vegemite sandwiches!
Book in for a week of mosaic heaven, $550.00 (inc gst) - making a mosaic mural. Have fun listening to music, watching slide-shows, learning from your tutor Sandy Robertson and making new friends who share the love of mosaics. Sandy is always finding new tips and tricks to share with her students! So even if you have made mosaics with Sandy before, you will still learn at this workshop.
The Diva Room is available for the first person to book in - or perhaps you are happy to share, enjoy some company and save on accommodation, it's a lovely room with a Queenslander deck for morning breakfast and evening tipples! Please contact Dave on costs and availability.
A list of basic bibs and bobs will be issued for you to consider collecting and using in your mosaic masterpiece. Book in early to secure your place in the workshop. Number limited to 6 students! Personal attention - lots of inspiration. Limited accommodation at OzMosaics studio, or stay nearly at a
B & B - visit Brisbane and enjoy the sights or nestle in for a week of mosaic-making. Contact OzMosaics for more information.
Sandy Robertson and members of MAANZ attended the
Reed - Stitches and Craft Fair -
30th April 2008 - Sunday 4th May 2008!
Brisbane Convention Centre! Wednesday until Sunday 10-5pm
We hope to be there again in 2009
Attendees had the opportunity to chat to Sandy Robertson, professional mosaic artist and mosaic art teacher about their mosaic art and craft. Sandy is the Qld Representative MAANZ & President of MAANZ. The mosaic team were on hand with mosaic volunteers from the Brisbane MAANZ mosaic team (Mosaic Assn of Australia and New Zealand) at the Brisbane Convention Centre.
Featured on the Mosaic Stand were 20 mosaic artworks from the travelling juried MAANZ "Insect Glimmering" 30 x 30 Art Exhibition; sections of the mosaics from the Steve Irwin Mosaic Tribute mural, mosaic demonstrations (spin the bottle, Sandy Style!) and more! Sandy demonstrated what you can do with wine bottles - make beautiful tesserae, leaves and more!
Fair visitors, happily and generously tossed some money in the dunny to help Grant a Starlight Foundation wish for a sick child and were given a complimentary raffle ticket in the mosaic workshop raffle, donated by Sandy for a OzMosaics Mosaic Studio in Brisbane!
Visitors also tossed some money in the mosaic dunny and tried to guess how many mosaic glass tiles are in the big glass jar on the MAANZ stand! The winner was the person who is closest to the correct number of tiles in the jar! The winner received the glass mosaic tiles in the jar and a pair of mosaic nippers! They have already attended their prize workshop with Sandy!
.....Find out about the upcoming MAANZ Mosaic Symposium 2009 in Brisbane, toss some Money in the Dunny for the kids at the Starlight Foundation (Make a Wish Program) - tossing some money in the dunny will also give you the opportunity to place a piece of tile in the Steve Irwin Mosaic Mural gift, for Australia Zoo. Art has been received from Australia and around the world!
Watch a laptop slideshow of mosaic contributions to the mosaic mural and also enjoy photographs of the 2007 MAANZ Hobart Tasmania Symposium and other mosaic events.
