Bundaberg Arts Centre invites you and your friends to the official opening of About Face, Broken Art and Seeing the Light.    A fantastic opportunity to view contemporary portraiture, explore colour and texture through mosaics and an exploratoin of societal life.

Gail Spendelove, a mosaic artist who has recently relocated to Bundaberg has her mosaics in the Broken Art Exhibition and invited Sandy to open her mosaic show.   Sandy is flying up on Wednesday, 9 January 2008 to give an opening address for Gail's show and enjoy the opening night, complete with singing performers and other fabulous art exhibitions.

Sandy is very proud of Gail's achievements and has followed Gail's mosaic progress over many years.  Gail has spent time at OzMosaics studio as a friend and student, sharing her experiences and knowledge.

loreto07june07 011.jpgSandy participated in the MAANZ mentor program and Sandy selected Gail from many applicants as her mentoree at OzMosaics studio during 2006-2007.  loreto10nov06 012.jpg These photos are work in progress on the OzMosaics Loreto College commission.

Visit the Emporium Gallery for a slide show on the making of the mural.

Gail and Sandy worked on a commission from Loreto College at Coorparoo Brisbane "He Leadeth me to still waters...."  This was the second commission by Sandy for Loreto College.  Both artworks are in the Chapel Courtyard which is a beautiful setting at the college.  Gail and Sandy both enjoyed the mentor experience and grew together as artists, stretching the limits of thinset and tesserae.  Beautiful Orsoni smalti and mirror sat happily next to glass and slate in the mosaic commission.

Gail's mosaic art is fresh and exciting.  The mosaic art is beautifully presented reading for hanging.  Gail was part of the Mosaic Now exhibition (as was Sandy) which travelled in Oz in NSW and Victoria 2006-2007.  Gail has been awarded prizes in MAANZ art shows and her work has toured with the 30 x 30 MAANZ exhibitions.

It's wonderful to be a mosaic artist and tutor and see your students/associates become successful and soar!  Congratulations Gail and I am very proud of your achievements.    I encourage readers to consider a purchase of Gail's art as it is unique, beautiful, contemporary and a great investment.
