Sandy Robertson is the artistic director of Studio OzMosaics, Queensland and is an experienced mosaic artist, highly skilled and proficient in mosaic making.
The OzMosaics team is dedicated to the design and construction of high quality, professional mosaic artworks for corporate, public, private and domestic applications.
Sandy is the Queensland Representative of MAANZ (Mosaic Assn of Australia and New Zealand) and past VP for 6 years.
Working full time as a mosaic artist and mosaic educator has given Sandy experience across the mosaic board.
Mosaics enhance any design, both interior and exterior. Mosaic can be used to decorate tables, sculptures, floors, mirrors, feature walls, playgrounds, courtyards, furniture and can be integrated with water features, special effects and other elemental forms. Mosaic is enduring and pleasing to the eye.
Mosaic is an ancient art but has moved with the times in Australian design, bringing beauty, flexibility and is very popular when featured in public and community art projects and in both private and public sectors. OzMosaics team assists design professionals and their clients to incorporate mosaic art in all sectors whether it be small or large scale projects - integrated or stand alone.
OzMosaics has worked with community Art projects in Queensland and Norfolk Island and extensively in large school mosaic projects and public artworks including Queensland Art Built-in and Queensland Rail.
Working with pool fabricators on large scale mosaic murals and private commissions Sandy also finds time to share her skills with the community with Art from the Heart Programs such as Captain Starlight Rooms at the Mater Hospital and assisting the Endeavour Foundation to learn new mosaic skills.
Teaching school students the technical side of mosaics gives a solid foundation for future mosaic artists and inspires students to think outside the mosaic square. 8 years of mosaic making has given Sandy experience in the mosaic field and mosaic management of large scale projects.
Mosaic art encompasses many materials, from glass tile, stone, marble, brick, china, recycled and reused items, wood, ceramic and found objects. From traditional mosaic methods to modern techniques each mosaic stands alone in beauty, originality and Sandy prides herself on working with a client brief to produce an exciting mosaic design and artwork.
