Mosaic Panel 10 - Featuring
mosaic Polar Bear, dolphins, jellyfish, seal, mosaic whale, stingray, bluebottle, penguins, hopscotch, forget-me-knots, whale, shark, turtles, dugong, manta ray...
This mosaic panel is stunning! A huge mosaic whale tale was sculpted out of polystyrene, painted with thinset -this technique by Sandy gives a feeling of the ocean and the strength, size and beauty of the whale.
A wonderful dolphin is rising above the mosaic depths, made by Nancy in USA. You will notice a blue-bottle (yes from a wine bottle!) to represent the bottle nosed dolphin and to remind one not to discard rubbish into the ocean. On it's back rides the prettiest pink dolphin and again a reminder of breast-cancer awareness.
Little turtles and large turtles swim by. This mosaic mural panel is incredible and a tribute to the talent, passion and love for Steve Irwin. He inspired artists to create this mosaic masterpiece and we thank him.
The polar bear is spectactular and Sandy and Dr Des carved and shaped to ensure the face of the polar bear is 3-D. It's feet are also raised. The polar bear is walking on "thin ice" but to make things cheerier, the ice is representd as a hop-scotch....this should be fun for children to discover.
The fairy penguins and other penguins are happily strutting and waddling along.
The jellyfish are so pretty and the sting ray is gently inserted in the background. A large mirrored manta ray is delightful and makes us reflect on the beauty and dangers of the ocean.
A little mosaic shark scoots by and the seal looks great amongst the rock outcrop. The forget-me-knots are very special....thank you Sam!
