Panel 8 - Miss Uluru and mates!
This Panel is very special. Jan Abbotts found a koala on her pool fence and made a koala from a photograph of that special day!
The red eye Koala was made by Endeavour Foundation clients. The Red Hat Ladies from one of the Brisbane Groups made the big kangaroo made from purple and red flowers. Echidnas, baby koalas, kookaburras, possums, crocs, birds, wombats, owls, porcupine, waratahs.....all are surrounded by Brett Campbell's fabulous emu and Shirley Whittons Miss Uluru (a gorgeous, colourful kangaroo).
The Tasmanian Tiger made by Pam Woods is very special and has the word Jill woven into the andamento on the tiger's back. Jill, Pam's sister was very dear to Pam and hence much emotion is in this mural.
The big crocodile, made by children and visitors to the Brisbane Craft Fair was made of hundreds of pieces of tile. Money was tossed in the Mosaic Dunny and given to MAANZ, Art from the Heart - Starlight Foundation campaign. We have photos of hundreds of hands placing pieces on the huge crocodiles on each of the large panels. The cutest platypus sits at the bottom of this mural panel....many more creatures hide on the panel. Thanks to everyone who contributed to this panel, it is very special indeed. Visit Australia Zoo to get close up and personal to this beautiful mosaic panel.
The emu is raised. Dr Des and Sandy worked very hard on this emu to give him personality and a new look! Brett did an amazing job on this emu and we hope you will run your hands over old man emu and enjoy the texture. It was art from the heart in so many ways.
