Mosaic Tile Fibreglass Mesh

mosaicMosaic  Fibreglass Mesh - a must have!
Mosaic Tile Mesh!

Visit our online store!  We stock and sell light-weight and heavy-weight mosaic mesh!

Mosaic making has never been easier!
It's time to toss the brown paper and flour and water glue (ok for dead-flat stuff) and make mosaics with texture and style!

Mosaic fibreglass mesh allows everyone to get on with the job of mosaics! Come and learn Sandy's tips and tricks!   Beware of inferior quality mesh and cotton mesh - it's important to purchase the correct mesh for mosaics, with high resistance tensile strength.

OzMosaics stocks and uses professional quality fibreglass mosaic mesh.  Sandy has been using mesh for so long it's second nature and hundreds of school students have made mosaic art with their drawings under the mesh - so simple, but also deceptively clever as the mesh allows you to make mosaics of your dreams.... but work inside in comfort until you are ready to install.

The direct mosaic mesh method is a dream for mosaic artists; beginners to professionals.

Technical stuff:
The raw material purchased is fibreglass yarn.  Fibreglass threads are obtained by high-speed extrusion with special platinum dyes, in which is dropped a melting mass of glass, Silicon, Kaolin and limestone are added and are the main components to achieve the thread.

OzMosaics Fibreglass has some very special features:
-high resistance to tensile strength
-acid proof
-fireproof
-resistance to organic and toxic agents
-smooth and flexible with good adhesion to irregular surfaces

Learn the mosaic mesh method at Studio OzMosaics workshops.
You will love it!

Sandy has tons of info on how to use mosaic fibreglass mesh - unique and exciting - setting the standards in 3-D mosaic mesh applications - many artists world-wide have benefitted from Sandy's tips and tricks but Sandy has tips and tricks coming with mesh that are fresh and innovative!

Shop_Tiles___Grout_113.jpgBEWARE OF COTTON MESH!
DO NOT USE IT IN MOSAICS
-
It frays and stretches - just awful!
Cotton and inferior grade mesh is
not compatible with all mosaic
adhesives and may rot!  Disaster!

Buy your mosaic mesh from OzMosaics and take the worry out of using the wrong mesh for your beautiful mosaics!

This page explains how fiberglass mesh is used to create patterns of mosaic tile. Shop for mosaic tile mesh and other supplies in the online store.

Creating a mosaic pattern on a wall can be very difficult.   If you try to adhere each piece of tesserae (tile) your arms start to ache and the tiles may slip down. Using the mosaic mesh method provides the mosaic artist with an easier alternative.

Create the design, cover in plastic and then overlay with the fibreglass mosaic mesh, which has been coded and segmented.  Glue each section to the wall following a paper grid reminder.

By working on mesh the mosaic artist may create detailed mosaic designs, without the substrate on hand.  We often design the mosaic on mesh and then cut the substrate or build the wall to suit!

Mesh mosaics allow the artist to work at a table and create detailed designs in comfort, indoors and in segments suitable for packing, transporting or ease of application!  Huge mosaics made possible, with ease!

OzMosaics stocks and sells mosaic sticky plastic for mosaic tile grids.  Brown paper and Fibreglass meshes are typically used for back mounting, while the tape is for front or face mounting. Fiberglass mesh is simply marvellous.  Learn how to use it at an OzMosaics workshop!
