I just hope that the mural is accepted for the reason it is intended.  Not as a commercial advert but as a joining of friendship around the world.

Donna (mosaic artist) - This was a great experience working together with my family to create these mosaics.  We’ve all said we hope to go to Australia some day to see the full mural in person and to visit the whole zoo.  Many thanks to Sandy and everyone involved in orchestrating this project.  My prayers and best wishes go out especially to Steve’s family and those at the Australia Zoo.   I also hope that the mural inspires people to not only remember all that Steve stood for, but also to try their hand at mosaic.  It’s a wonderful art form!

John (husband) -I just want to say thanks to the Irwins, and all their staff and team for the excellent work they do in creating such fine and educational TV programs. We really appreciate all you do.

Seth (19yo) - God bless Steve Irwin and prayers and blessings to his family.

Laryssa (17yo) - I like how the colors turned out and I thought I did a good job for a beginner.  Some day I hope to visit Australia and see it.

Cory – (12yo) - I'm glad I could make a mosaic for the mural.  Even though I'm in

Virginia, I'd like to see the mosaic mural sometime.

This is going to be a beautiful tribute to Steve Irwin and I’m so proud to be a part of it. I cannot wait to see the finished mural and hope to visit Australia one day to see it in person!

This is awesome!  Thanks for ‘giving to others’ through the experience to join together in honor of a person who made a difference.  This project has made a huge impact on peoples lives (this is based on the huge impact it has had on mine- the emotion, the excitement, the anticipation).  People who coordinate events like this, ‘make it happen’, creating memories, should be ‘in the news’ instead of all the depressing stuff we see.  Once complete, the tribute will keep on giving for years, to all the children and adults alike, who love animals, the zoo and Steve.   Bravo Sandy!

I didn’t intend to do 2 pieces for the mural as we are undergoing a remodel, have illnesses in the family and so much stress going on right now.  However, I really felt compelled to do this little dolphin.  The way people encouraged me, the internet search coming right up with the albino dolphin, Joe Carter donating glass to me, and finding and learning about Kokomo Glass all contributed to leading me forward to complete the dolphin.  It was therapeutic as well

I am definitely a mosaic tragic. I love fossicking for old crockery, tile, odds and ends. My most favourite shops are usually the ones run by the local tips. Because or due to my passion I acquired my Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training so I could instruct in mosaic so more people would discover what a fascinating art form mosaic is. While living in Australia I was a member of our local community gallery located in Joondalup –blend(er) gallery. Here I was elected to the position Public Programs Manager (volunteer) and organized workshops in painting, life drawing, textile art and of course mosaic. I have exhibited and sold mosaic art at a number of exhibitions and some of these pieces are now residing in Canada, the Philippines, New Zealand, England and throughout Australia. I am also a self taught sculptor. After many attempts of making rubble I have managed a few stone sculptures that are of course adorned with ceramic tile, beads, broken crockery, etc. I hope to introduce the art of mosaic to interested people in my area either by teaching classes or giving demonstration workshops and hopefully get enough interest to do a community project. I have really enjoyed making these two pieces and thank you for the opportunity to be involved.

OK.  Thanks to all the people who thought up the project, and made up the fact sheets, who are collecting all the designs, and somehow pulling them together as a mural. And the wonderful people who are going to adhere the mosaics to the wall, and the massive grouting project.

Carolyn - I wish to tell you that you are an angel for doing this, Sandy, and that the good energy that will radiate from Steve's Wall will surely have repercussions beyond what you could possibly imagine, just as Steve's work had and continues to have.

Anna - Thank you for this wonderful opportunity!

Sandy, thank you so much for organizing this. We are all so excited and honored to have our mosaics go up on a wall at Australia Zoo in AUSTRALIA in honor of Steve Irwin. As a mosaicist, this has pushed me far beyond where I would be at this point.  I never thought I would do an animal.

Thank you. Sending you loves and hugs from Iowa and Nebraska, United States of America.

In his way, with his zeal and passion, Steve brought the world together with his charismatic love for family and wildlife. The children of the world loved him and because of him, understood how to be, “Wildlife Warriors.”
